On-Line support group: AFFTER facilitates an on-line support group that involves members from around the world. This is a good method of communicating with others who understand because they suffer with the same symptoms as you do. It is a place to get doctor referrals, discuss symptoms and treatment options, do some venting, give or receive support, and develop friendships with others if you want to.

AFFTER Medical News is an electronic news brief that comes out when information becomes available. It could be news about research and new treatments, educational materials or various other resources.

The Fibro-Relaxation Group: This is a companion group to the two main groups, and is open only to AFFTER yahoo members. It is a place where you can post “off topic” materials that might not be appropriate in the main group, such as jokes, inspirational and religious material and any other off topic conversation that wouldn’t be appreciated by the hundreds of other members who just want to learn about their illness. Laughter and spirituality are important parts of healing, and the relaxation group will offer those things.

NOTE:These groups tend to produce a lot of mail. If you have trouble keeping up with email, I recommend trying the digest mode when signing up. That way you will receive one email a day with all of the daily messages combined into one daily digest where you can see a summary of topics and choose which emails you want to read. If you want to be more interactive and can keep up with email, the individual email method works best.
